TIANJIN, China — China vaulted past competitors in Denmark, Germany, Spain and the United States last year to become the world’s largest maker of wind turbines, and is poised to expand even further this year.

China has also leapfrogged the West in the last two years to emerge as the world’s largest manufacturer of solar panels. And the country is pushing equally hard to build nuclear reactors and the most efficient types of coal power plants.

(Reuters) – A new superbug from India could spread around the world — in part because of medical tourism — and scientists say there are almost no drugs to treat it.

Researchers said on Wednesday they had found a new gene called New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase, or NDM-1, in patients in South Asia and in Britain.

Peacotum – a triple treat from the garden

A triple-header of a hybrid fruit – touted as the first three-in-one ever – has made cameo appearances at a few markets in the Bay Area. The ‘Bella Gold’ peacotum is a cross of peach, apricot and plum. While the fruit’s season is winding down, come fall, the trees will be available for home orchards.

More than a decade in development, peacotum is a creation of Zaiger’s Genetics Inc., which relies on natural methods, rather than genetic modification. Like other Zaiger fruit, it’s grown and sold exclusively by Dave Wilson Nursery in Hickman (Stanislaus County). Hangzhou, Zhejiang CHINA — An unidentified flying object forced an airport in a major Chinese city to shut down operations for an hour, various reports said.

According to state media outlet China Daily, the incident happened at Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan Airport on July 7, when the UFO was spotted around 8:30 p.m. According to the report, the object did not show up on radar.

A massive, newly-retooled supertanker is now in the Gulf of Mexico. Its owner claims the vessel can skim millions of liters of oily water each day.

Like vain king Hsinbyushin. He conscripted people from each village to fight in neighboring Thailand, a fellow Buddhist country, just for a white elephant. Famine resulted and population decreased in Burma. Laid waste to Ayuthia in Thailand. Destroyed Pagodas. Created unnecessary bad blood and distrust for later generations.

Shortsighted and stupid. Didn’t love or care for people, self centered.
